Forgotten Children, Inc.
November 2018 - June 2020
Students Consulting for Non-Profit Organizations
Forgotten Children, Inc. is a faith-based nonprofit located in San Bernadino, California dedicated to empowering survivors of sexual abuse and human trafficking to prevent them from falling back into the industry's toxic cycle.
In November 2019, I had the privilege of meeting with the CEO of Forgotten Children, Inc., Tera Hilliard, as an Associate Consultant within Students Consulting for Non-profit Organizations (SCNO). Having personally grown up in a sheltered "bubble" of a community, I was never exposed to the dangers of human trafficking and the sex trade, so it was alarming and truly terrifying to learn about how prevalent the issue was. Tera gave my team members and me some insight into how difficult it is for victims to escape this vicious cycle. Among the many resources that Forgotten Children, Inc. offers for victims and survivors, they also focus on educating the general public about these dangers to raise awareness.
At the time, Forgotten Children, Inc. named three specific problems they needed help with: creating a more credible website, improving marketing efforts that can raise awareness about the prevalence of human trafficking, and finding a source of steady donations through donors. During my first year Fall quarter at UC Irvine, I was interested in marketing and consulting, so I requested to research and strategize methods for Forgotten Children, Inc. to improve their social media marketing outreach.

Forgotten Children, Inc. Revisited
This past Spring quarter in my second year at UC Irvine, I was assigned to create a presentation and persuasive argument to convince my classmates and instructors to donate to a non-profit organization; while I had an entire selection of non-profits to choose from, my mind immediately went to Forgotten Children, Inc. I took this assignment as an opportunity to see how the organization had grown since my last interaction with them and to share the knowledge I learned from working with them.
The slide deck below was presented to my Business Communications class and Tera Hilliard.
